February 2017 Guitar Retreat in Old San Juan Puerto Rico
This is the information for our Guitar Retreat next February 19-23, 2017, which will take place in a beautiful colonial mansion, 104 Calle San Jose in Old San Juan. Participants are encouraged to bring their family and friends to accompany them on this retreat and to join the group for lunches and social activities for a small additional fee. There is also an option to stay longer In Puerto Rico for those who would like to do so, taking advantage of accommodation discount rates. See the detailed information below.
Retreat Description
Retreat is four days minimum, arrival Sunday afternoon 2/19/17 and ending Thursday afternoon 2/23/17
Extended scenario: arrival Sunday afternoon 2/19/17 and ending Sunday 2/26/17
Other possible scenarios according to your vacation choices
Retreat is designed for beginners, intermediates, and advanced levels.
This retreat will include the following:
Guitar instruction, performance skills and the art of efficient practice (all workshop activities will be offered in English)
Duos and ensembles with guitars and/or piano with instructors Maurice Cahen and Steve Travis
Relaxation/Yoga sessions in the morning
Puerto Rican lunch daily (loved ones are welcome to join for a small additional fee)
Mini performances among participants and with selected guests
First evening includes a cocktail hour with special guest performer from the Music Conservatory of San Juan, and an introductory meeting with visual artists of La Fondación Arana, where the workshop will be held.
Interaction with visual artists
Time for socialization
Time for sightseeing.
Guitar Retreat Accommodations and Lodging Rates
Workshop fee per participant (not including airfare and lodging) $1,200.00.
This includes:
Four days of Master classes and private & group musical instruction.
Morning relaxation/yoga exercises
Puerto Rican lunch daily
Transportation to and from the airport and other workshop related activities.
Family members and friends who will not be participants of the Guitar Retreat are still encouraged to come to Puerto Rico. For a fee of $200.00 per person, they will be able to participate in all workshop activities other than the musical training. These activities include morning relaxation/yoga exercise, Puerto Rican lunch daily, transportation to and from the airport and other workshop related activities like some sightseeing and concert.
Lodging rate:
We have different lodging possibilities to accommodate different needs. Rates might vary slightly depending on which lodging scenario you choose, the number in your party or how many people will be sharing the same apartment. See the following links for more information and photos of the accommodations. Participants are encouraged to stay in Old San Juan but can rent in other areas if they wish to extend their visit before or after the workshop.

Airfare
Check and book your ticket with Jet Blue, South West, American Air Lines, US Air, among others. If you do it early you will find better prices. We suggest Jet Blue with direct flights to San Juan.
Payment Schedule and Cancelation Policy
Payment of workshop and accommodation fees will secure your participation in the retreat. You will receive a signed contract as a receipt.
Payment deadlines and deposits:
1st deadline: July 1st 2016: $500 deposit for workshop and accommodations.
2nd deadline: 1st week of October- full payment for workshop and accommodations.
Cancelation Policy:
Same policy applies to both Lodging Accommodations and Guitar Retreat.
If notice of cancellation is received before or on January 19th, 40% of the total payment received shall be retained. For cancellations between January 19 and February 19, total payment will be retained.
